Mumbai Cannabis Scene Overview
Mumbai is India’s most cosmopolitan city and its entertainment capital. This creates both a visible cannabis culture in certain areas and some of India’s strictest enforcement, courtesy of the NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Unit. High-profile cannabis arrests in Mumbai (including of Bollywood figures) have raised public and police awareness considerably since 2020.
The legal cannabis landscape in Mumbai is centred on bhang — available near major temple sites such as Siddhivinayak Mandir and during festivals — and CBD wellness products, which are stocked in health-focused stores in Bandra West, Juhu, and the BKC area. Hemp products (seeds, oils, protein) are also increasingly available in Mumbai’s upscale supermarkets and organic stores.
