Do-Si-Dos Strain Overview
Do-Si-Dos was bred by Archive Seed Bank as a cross between OGKB (OG Kush Breath) and Face Off OG. It sits firmly in the cookies family and has become a staple of premium cannabis markets worldwide. THC levels regularly reach 25-28%, placing it among the most potent indicas available.
The buds are dense and compact with vibrant green and deep purple hues, coated in white trichomes that give them exceptional bag appeal. Effects are deeply relaxing and euphoric, ideal for evening use and insomnia. See our Girl Scout Cookies guide for related cookies-lineage growing tips and our Wedding Cake guide for another OGKB descendant.
Growing Conditions for Do-Si-Dos
Do-Si-Dos performs best indoors where temperature fluctuations can bring out its purple phenotype. Maintain daytime temperatures at 22-26°C during veg and drop nighttime temperatures to 16-18°C in late flower — the differential triggers anthocyanin production, deepening the purple coloration without stressing the plant.
Humidity should be kept at 55-60% in veg and reduced to 40-45% in flowering. Do-Si-Dos is a relatively short, compact plant — ideal for grow tents. It responds well to topping and LST to open the canopy. As a cookies-family strain, it can be sensitive to nutrients: start at 70% of recommended doses and increase based on plant response. The training techniques guide covers LST in detail.
Flowering and Harvest
Do-Si-Dos completes flowering in 8-9 weeks indoors. Outdoor harvest falls in late September to early October. Indoor yields average 350-400g/m2 — not the heaviest producer, but the quality more than compensates. The final 2-3 weeks see heavy trichome development and the buds take on their characteristic frosty, colorful appearance.
Harvest when trichomes are predominantly cloudy with 10-20% amber for a sedative indica effect. The buds remain dense even after drying, making Do-Si-Dos excellent for concentrate production. A slow cure in airtight jars for 6-8 weeks develops the complex terpene profile fully. For detailed harvest timing, see the trichome harvest guide.
Tips and Troubleshooting
Do-Si-Dos is moderately challenging due to its nutrient sensitivity. Watch closely for signs of calcium deficiency (brown spots on leaves) or phosphorus deficiency (dark purpling of stems outside the intended cold-induced pigmentation) and address them promptly. Use a quality cannabis-specific nutrient line with built-in micronutrients.
The compact bushy structure can restrict airflow in the lower canopy — defoliate the bottom third of the plant at the start of flowering to redirect energy to the top colas and improve air circulation. Keep a pH meter calibrated and maintain 6.0-6.5 in soil throughout the grow. Do-Si-Dos rewards attentive growers with extraordinary bag appeal and potency.
