Farmacia Cosmópolis, Centro, Montevideo. IRCCA-licensed cannabis pharmacy in Uruguay. Full guide to Uruguay's legal cannabis pharmacy system.
History of the IRCCA Pharmacy Programme
Uruguay's pharmacy cannabis programme launched in July 2017 after years of careful regulatory preparation following the landmark 2013 legalisation law. IRCCA selected pharmacies based on geographic distribution across Montevideo to ensure registered residents had reasonable access. Farmacia Cosmópolis on 18 de Julio was chosen partly because of its central, high-footfall location serving residents of the Centro and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Products and Pricing
IRCCA-licensed pharmacies sell standardised cannabis flower at a government-set price of approximately UYU 187 per gram (roughly USD 5 at current rates). Two cannabis varieties are typically available: one higher in THC and one more balanced. Products are packaged under official IRCCA labelling with batch testing results.
