Mombasa's beach tourism belt stretches along approximately 25 kilometres of Indian Ocean coastline north and south of the city. The primary resort areas are Nyali and Bamburi (north, 5–15km from Mombasa city centre), Shanzu (north, approximately 20km), and Diani Beach (south, via the Likoni ferry, approximately 30km from Mombasa). Each area has a distinct character and a distinct cannabis risk environment.

Diani Beach is Kenya's most internationally renowned beach destination — a 17km stretch of white sand with a concentration of beach bars, kite surfing operations, and international tourist accommodation. Cannabis availability through informal beach vendors has been a feature of Diani for many years. The risk environment is moderate: informal tolerance exists but is not guaranteed, and occasional police operations specifically target beach drug sales.

Nyali and Bamburi are primarily hotel and resort zones with less visible informal cannabis activity than Diani. The Nyali commercial strip includes several bars and restaurants frequented by Mombasa's middle class and expatriate community where cannabis culture is less visible but not absent.

Shanzu is the furthest north of the main resort areas and has a slightly more low-key tourism environment. Shanzu and the areas toward Kikambala are less policed and cannabis is more openly available through informal channels, but the quality and safety of what is sold has no regulation or verification.

In all beach areas: do not purchase from individuals who approach you unsolicited offering cannabis. The risk of scam, theft, or police setup is highest in these encounters. Engage only through established local contacts if at all, and consume privately in your accommodation rather than on public beaches or roads.
