India’s Hemp Industry
India legalised industrial hemp cultivation in Uttarakhand in 2016, and Himachal Pradesh followed. Hemp-derived products including seeds, oils, fibre and non-psychoactive extracts are now produced domestically and sold legally across India. Delhi, as the national capital and commercial hub, has the highest concentration of wellness retailers stocking hemp products.
Hemp wellness stores in Delhi typically carry hemp seed oil (a rich source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids), hemp protein powder used by the fitness community, hemp seed snacks and granola, CBD-infused skincare creams and serums, and hemp-fibre clothing and accessories. These products contain negligible or zero THC and pose no legal risk to purchase or carry domestically or internationally in most countries.
Where to Shop
The highest concentration of hemp wellness retail is in South Delhi. Hauz Khas Social area, the lanes of Greater Kailash M-Block Market, and Khan Market have specialty wellness stores that carry dedicated hemp product ranges. Online delivery from Delhi-based hemp brands such as Boheco Life and Hempstrol is also widely available for domestic orders. For visitors, in-store purchase from identifiable wellness stores with clear product labelling is safer than purchasing from market vendors or online marketplaces with unverified sellers.
Key Facts
